about zen community

My name is Saj Sharif, and I’m the face behind Zen Community. I have a super busy life, including three children, a large outer family and many pets. I am extremely family orientated and follow the philosophy of looking after our elders and providing for our children.

Meet Saj Sharif

I’ve been interested in the Spiritualist movement since 1996. While going through a turbulent time in my life, I went along for a reading from a spiritual guide in Haymarket. I was looking for guidance and reassurance which I received, but I was absolutely gobsmacked at the accuracy of the information that she was giving me. There was no way she could have known what she told me. The reassurance I was given allowed me to move forward to a new chapter of my life.

My life has never been simple or easy and I have reached out many times since my first reading for more. I always thought about it as reassurance and guidance. My life changed when I had a specific reading in 2007. During this reading evidence of my Nana, who had passed, was given to me but had to be verified later by my mother. It reduced my mother to tears and she kept probing me as to where I got this information from and how I knew. It was at this specific reading I was also told  I had the gift of Mediumship and that one day I would be giving messages to people from loved ones in spirit too.

A spiritual journey

It was around this time, I embarked on a path of receiving life coaching from an amazing person called Jay Lincoln. Without him, I don’t think my life would be as balanced and as positive. He truly helped me to heal my soul, and I will be eternally grateful to him. He helped me break free of the hold that religion had on my brain. I always felt I was abnormal and never fitted in to the life that my parents wanted for me. For some reason I always questioned everything I was being told which caused many disagreements and family fall outs.

During these life coaching sessions, tasks, and homework, I discovered that it’s okay to not fit in and it’s also okay to question why. But the most important thing I learned was there is no such thing as perfect – or coincidence. It wasn’t until I was given The Celestine Prophecies to read that I actually made the connection. The flood gates opened and a tidal wave of understanding took my breath away.  All of a sudden, I was no longer asking ”why…?”I was saying:  “OMG… so that was that and NO WAY! This was why…” and well, life has never been the same since.

The path to Zen Community

2013

I started my development in January 2013 and I’ve never looked back. I realised that I have always been spiritually minded, always offering help and guidance to family and friends. My strength comes from my want to protect my children and the importance of my freedom and independence.

2016

In early 2016 I qualified as a hypnotherapist and counsellor with a Chrysalis Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills (Cert Hyp CS) from The National Hypnotherapy Society.

Then, in October of that year, I completed my meditation and mindfulness teacher training with Zenways Meditation.

2018

In March 2018 I qualified as a Harmonising Consultant Life Coach, which allowed me to start my own company offering Holistic therapies within Zenways Meditation, specialising in life coaching and hypnotherapy.

I’m constantly searching for ways to grow spiritually, so in June I attended a "Seshin" with Zenways. I spent a week in Japan up a mountain with the Monks. It was another completely life-altering moment for me – not to mention extremely arduous. But boy, what an experience!

It is all this life experience that finally led me to create Zen Community, where my aim is to help people live calmer, happier and more meaningful lives – as well as continue my journey of self-discovery. Namaste.
